Sugar Cookie Truffles are a delightful no-bake treat combining crumbled sugar cookies mixed with cream cheese, coated in smooth vanilla melting wafers, and decorated with festive holiday sprinkles. These bite-sized sweets are perfect for holiday parties or as a charming dessert gift.

Ingredients

Scale

Base:

  • 2 cups (240g) sugar cookie crumbs (from 1012 cookies)
  • 4 oz (113g) cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Coating:

  • 10 oz (283g) vanilla melting wafers
  • Holiday sprinkles
  • 1/8 cup reserved melting wafers for drizzle

Instructions

  1. Prepare baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to set the truffles after dipping.
  2. Make cookie crumbs: Place sugar cookies in a food processor and pulse until they become fine crumbs for a smooth truffle base.
  3. Combine base ingredients: In a mixing bowl, stir together the cookie crumbs and softened cream cheese (and vanilla extract if using) until fully incorporated into a uniform dough.
  4. Form balls: Using a tablespoon measure, scoop portions of the mixture and roll each into a smooth ball shape with your hands.
  5. Freeze balls: Place the formed balls on the lined baking sheet and freeze for 15-20 minutes to firm up before coating.
  6. Melt coating wafers: Heat the vanilla melting wafers in 30-second intervals at 50% microwave power, stirring between intervals until smooth and completely melted.
  7. Dip truffles: Using a fork modified to hold the ball securely, dip each chilled truffle into the melted coating, allowing excess to drip off.
  8. Add sprinkles: Immediately after dipping, sprinkle festive holiday sprinkles on the coating before it sets to ensure they stick well.
  9. Chill between batches: Place dipped truffles on parchment paper and chill for 5 minutes between batches to help the coating firm up quickly.
  10. Drizzle coating: Melt the reserved 1/8 cup of wafers and drizzle over the cooled truffles for decoration.
  11. Refrigerate before serving: Store the completed truffles in the refrigerator until ready to serve for best texture and freshness.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Using a food processor for the cookie crumbs ensures a smooth truffle texture.
  • Freezing the balls before dipping helps prevent them from falling apart during coating.
  • The modified fork technique allows for cleaner dipping and easier handling of truffles.
  • Store truffles chilled to maintain coating firmness and freshness.
  • Substitute holiday sprinkles with any decorative topping as desired.
