Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Seasonings and Sauces

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or coconut aminos for a soy-free option)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Oils

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil: Warm 2 tablespoons of olive oil or avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the beef and vegetables.
  2. Cook the beef: Add the ground beef to the hot skillet and cook until browned, breaking it into smaller pieces with a spoon as it cooks to ensure even browning and texture.
  3. Sauté onion and garlic: Mix in the thinly sliced onion and minced garlic, cooking for 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
  4. Add cabbage: Stir in the thinly sliced cabbage and cook for about 5-7 minutes, allowing it to soften slightly while still retaining some crunch.
  5. Season the stir-fry: Pour in the soy sauce (or coconut aminos), apple cider vinegar, ground ginger, and sprinkle the red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir everything thoroughly to combine the flavors evenly.
  6. Finish cooking: Continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes or until the cabbage is tender and the flavors have melded together perfectly.
  7. Serve: Remove from heat and serve the stir-fry hot for a delicious, low-carb meal.

Notes

  • Use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce for a soy-free, gluten-free alternative.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes according to your preferred spice level or omit for a milder dish.
  • Can be garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds for added flavor and texture.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For extra fat, add a tablespoon of butter or ghee near the end of cooking.
