Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 6 (6-inch) corn or flour tortillas
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Heat a 5 1/2-quart or larger air fryer to 350 to 360°F to ensure the cooking environment is hot and ready for evenly crisp tortilla chips.
  2. Prepare the Tortillas: Place the 6 tortillas in a single layer on a cutting board. Lightly spray each tortilla on both sides with cooking spray and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt on each side for balanced seasoning.
  3. Cut the Tortillas: Stack the tortillas and cut them into 6 wedges each, creating chip-sized pieces perfect for air frying.
  4. Arrange and Air Fry: Place half of the tortilla wedges in an even layer in the air fryer basket. Some overlap is allowed. Air fry for 5 to 6 minutes total, shaking the basket or redistributing the chips with tongs halfway through to ensure even browning and crispiness.
  5. Cool and Repeat: Transfer the cooked chips to a wire rack to cool and further crisp up. Repeat the air frying process with the remaining tortilla wedges, watching carefully and taking them out a minute or two earlier if done.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle your favorite seasonings such as chili powder, garlic powder, or smoked paprika before air frying.
  • Use corn tortillas for a traditional tortilla chip flavor or flour tortillas for a lighter alternative.
  • Do not overcrowd the basket to ensure the chips cook evenly and become crispy.
  • Allow chips to cool on a wire rack to maintain maximum crispness.
  • Store leftover chips in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
